September Friday Night Dance Party

Another first Friday is upon us. That means another Friday Night Dance Party! Start a fresh new Autumn night right by whoopin' it up in your living room! Plenty of new music to keep the party going!

Let's kick it off with one of my personal favourites!

Rival Sons - "Keep On Swinging"

"Keep On Swinging" is the first single from the band's highly-anticipated new album, HEAD DOWN. RIVAL SONS frontman JAY BUCHANAN comments:"Shooting the video for Keep On Swinging was a pleasure.  Snake handling while wailing to a congregation in an old church is pretty high up there on the list of odd ways to pass the time.  Excuse me while I go to hell."  RIVAL SONS drummer MICHAEL MILEY adds:"We recently returned from an exciting expedition; it was an adventure.  The Spirit was moving in that room.  We were playing in a church somewhere in the South (can't reveal exact location) and had to convince this congregation we could be a musical catalyst for the casting out of demons; we succeeded.  We had to tame snakes with our music.  There was a swarm of ravens.  A girl that was baptized was on fire!  Crazy stuff!  And it was all caught on tape...  I'm sure it will be all over the interwebs soon.  Be on the lookout..."  HEAD DOWN hits the streets September 17th.

All Hail the Yeti - "The Art of Mourning"

Southern groove meets psychelia, ALL HAIL THE YETI releases a new video from their upcoming album. ALL HAIL THE YETI vocalist Connor Garritty on the video’s inception and creation: “Rob and I have been friends for many years and we share a love for the Old West and the gunfighters of the late 1800's. We have done a couple paranormal investigations of hot spots like tombstone's birdcage theater, and Bisbee Arizona, trying to get some sort of glimpse of what life would have been like back then. We had a blast making this clip and this is just the beginning for us. We are already in talks about the next one. With these ventures you learn new things every time, and each moment becomes a memory. That is the most important thing to us!”

Black Cobra - "Crimson Blade"

Whisky Tango Foxtrot! If you missed out on the lucious eargasm that was 2011's release of INVERNAL, don't dispair. BLACK COBRA have made a video for this most wicked song entitled "Crimson Blade". The video just proves how intense this band is. BLACK COBRA’s “Crimson Blade” filmed in three days for absolutely no money. The plot portrays the concept of the song, following one man as he devolves to a previous state of humanity and resorts to cannibalism in a post-apocalyptic world. During the filming of the gory visual depiction, actor Landon Bates actually ended up accidentally cutting himself multiple times, with actual wounds fueling some of the bloody scenes. Stated the members of BLACK COBRA: “The video’s concept was a collaboration between director Greg Downing and ourselves. We were familiar with his work in the bands Glitter Wizard and Buffalo Tooth and he was enthusiastic about working with us as well. In general, it's about isolation, paranoia and desperation. The utter darkness also gives it an overall feel of confusion. We're really stoked on how it came together.”

Job For A Cowboy - "Tarnished Gluttony"

I hope you like your videos heavy with a side evil. Up next is "Tarnished Gluttony" from perennial heavy doom metallers JOB FOR A COWBOY 2012 release DEMONOCRACY.  Says Jonny Davey on the track and video: “‘Tarnished Gluttony’ originally runs off the idea of blind faith into our government and monetary system. The director ran with the idea and spliced it with a H.P. Lovecraftian twist. The video streams the fascination of religion and the actions people justify in the name of religion, and this video is a spin on the old biblical tale of Abraham and Isaac, however, set in the world of Lovecraftian mythology. The point is, acting blindly in faith to a Christian deity is just as absurd as worshiping squid like monsters from space who live under the sea.” It's a wee bit disturbing to watch, but the story telling and cinematography are epic!

Eskimo Callboy - "Muffin Purper-Gurk"

And now from the truly what the fuck files.... ESKIMO CALLBOY. They are part screamo, part grunge, part whingy emo, part heavy metal, part trance, part harajuku girl, part I'm not almost but not quite totally unlike sure what exactly is going on here but I just can't look away. But then, with a song title such as MUFFIN PURPER-GURK maybe one shouldn't delve to deeply into the where-for's and wot-nots. Just sit back and enjoy! ESKIMO CALLBOY'S  debut album BURY ME IN VEGAS is due to be released in North America on September 11th.  Pre-order the album now at http://bit.ly/LunHKJ

Monks of Mellonwah - "Neverending Spirit"

Soulful is how to best describe NEVERENDING SPIRIT from MONKS OF MELLONWAH. It's the the second track on the Monks of Mellonwah's 2012 release - NEUROGENESIS. It's beautiful. It's haunting. It will have you singing along before the end.

Relicseed - "SlaucÄ“js SmalkjÅ«tÄ«gais"

Lucky #7 tonite is from Latvian metal band RELICSEED. SLAUCEJS SMALKJUTIGAIS is from the 2011 release of DOMESTIC DEVIL: LIMITED EDITION. It's fast. It's frenetic. It has some of the best guitar chops ever laid on disk. Relicseed are known for creating a wall of sound with intricate harmonies and composition. This song is no exception. If you can't wait for the 2013 full release of Domestic Devil but are just gobsmackingly in love with the track,  pick up  Domestic Devil: Limited Edition

That concludes the September edition of the Friday Night Dance Party! Remember to get yer groove on!
